Checking two decades for the same record causes data of the
earlier decade to be subtracted from that of the later decade.
Checking two months for the same record causes data of the
earlier month to be subtracted from that of the later month.
Checking two Model climate variables for the same record causes
data for the first variable to be subtracted from that of the
second variable.
Checking a Model climate variable and an observation for the same
record causes the observation to be subtracted from the Model
climate variable.
Record 2 may differ from record 1 in only one of three aspects:
decades, months, or simulations/quantities.
Incomplete specifications for record 2 are copied from record 1.
