Download DataFiles Generated by 4x3 Model

Model generated data is stored on an ftp site connected to this AOM web site. The directory structure is organized according to resolution (4X3), simulation, time frequency (A1, M10 or A10), and climate variable. Model DataFiles contain several records of increasing time. Each record contains a title and 90 x 60 data values that span the entire Earth according to the Model's grid. DataFiles contain the 4x3 Model's representation of past climate change and future climate prediction.

Below this paragraph choose the 4x3 Model time frequency whose data you want. We suggest creating subdirectories on your home disk such as 4X3/C480/A1 . In the subsequent pages where you are given the chance to download Model DataFiles one at a time, redirect the transferred files in the "Save As ..." box to the proper subdirectory.

Click on the time frequency whose data you want.

A1 Individual annual data: 1850 Annual, 1851 Annual, ...
M10 Decade-monthly data: 1850's January, 1850's February, ...
A10 Decade-annaul data: 1850's Annual, 1860's Annual, ...

If you intend to download several DataFiles, it will be more efficient to use the AOM web site's anonymous ftp site where the DataFiles actually reside.
From a UNIX prompt, enter: ftp aom.giss.nasa.gov
For Name enter: anonymous
For Password enter your E-mail address or anything.
Change directory to the 4x3 data: cd 4X3
Useful commands when using anonymous ftp sites are: binary , dir , cd , pwd , get , mget , quit .
You should execute binary before getting any DataFiles.
Make sure that the size of the DataFile you obtained is identical to that on the ftp site.

You may want to download QDF.FOR which is a Fortran program that lists the record titles of a DataFile.
